US President George Bush has met Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in Jerusalem, as part of the celebrations of Israel's sixtieth birthday.
On what is likely to be his last trip to Israel as President, Mr Bush spoke of his hopes for peace in the region and referred to the Jewish state as America’s "best friend".
Bush called Israel's founding a "marvellous story" during which Jews "never lost sight of Jerusalem".
Mr Bush has set a goal of reaching a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians before he leaves office in January but continuing violence has left many on both sides pessimistic.
Soon after the President arrived, a rocket fired from Gaza hit an Israeli shopping mall, injuring more than a dozen people.
His host, Ehud Olmert warned afterwards that tougher measures would follow if Hamas failed to stop its constant rocket attacks on Israel.
The Palestinians have responded to Israel's 60-year celebrations with various counter measures.
On Wednesday, they held demonstrations in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip with more demonstrations planned.

What would you do?i will not justify the rockets as i believe violence only leads to more violence. However, for those that seem confused as to WHY!! WHY IS THIS SO.. I would ask you to consider on the basis of simple human thinking, cause i am only a simple person.. Q: What would you do if you was forced off your land? Q: What would you do if your basic rights were taken away? Q: What would you do when you see your family and friends become second class citizens? Q: would you throw rocks? ok, you threw some rocks, but now they shoot you and roll tanks over you homes and kill people around you? Q: Am i crazy to think that people may start wanting to get very angry? Q: Would you become angry your considered to be a uncivilized beast? What do you do? They ran from their homes like cowards instead of defending what they believed was theirs.
They allowed themselves to be herded like sheep by other Arab nations.
They refused to go live in Jordan when they had the chance and worse some of them tried to kill the ruler of Jordan.
They elected and continue to elect criminal gangsters as leaders who only further fatten their purses on wealth and charity given to the people now calling themselves Palestinians.
If they stopped attacking they would get further and alot more sympathy. |

Sounds like America 1) herded like sheep by there leaders 2) Refused to listen to the UN or its inspectors 3) Twice they elected a criminal president and as a leader continued the war for oil Profits for his pal eg. o.b.laden Family,Texans... 4) If they stopped invading countries to secure the oil at the expense of civilian women & children lives & there own troops they may get further and alot more sympathy! People have a right to rebel when their land has been stolen and their family members killedWhat is there to celebrate about?
This is a celebration of a bunch of criminals who have stolen other people’s land.
And these criminals have made slaves of the owners of the land that they have stollen from.
No dignified person would participate to such celebration, unless he was a criminal.

Logic has long been lost upon anyone who supports either side.
One side had a country created by international consortiums has existed for 60 years and gives back to the world.
World class scientists!
The other side has world class terrorists, breeds like roaches and is a blight upon humanity always fomenting violence and breaking the laws of what ever host country they are in.
Arab Palestinians don’t deserve a country of their own they already have Jordan, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon.
How these idiots after 60 years can say but but “insert excuse” is really beyond logic.
