Christian maid burned by alleged rapist
    Iraq Sun
    Monday 15th March, 2010

A Christian maid in the Pakistani province of Punjab has allegedly been burned alive to prevent her from reporting a rape.

The woman, Kiran George died after two days of slow agony when she received burns to 80% of her body.

It has been alleged she was raped by the son of her employer, who, when she threatened a lawsuit, set her on fire.

The incident occurred in the small town of Sheikhupura in Punjab, where she worked for a Muslim family.

After the burning incident, the maid was taken to the Mayo Hospital in Lahore, where she was immediately listed as being in critical condition.

Police are investigating the alleged murderer/rapist, Mohammad Raza Ahmda, who they say blocked the escape of Kiran George when she threatened to report him for rape.

Ms George’s body was smothered with gasoline before she was set on fire.

Police have also said the father of the boy called her parents to tell them that her clothes caught fire while cleaning the kitchen.

Kiran George was able to tell the police her side of the story as she was dying in agony.
