Tevez humiliated at team being 'herded like chickens' on flight following WC exit

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez, who scored 29 goals in his first season at the club, has said that he is struggling to motivate himself for the new Premier League season following his country's failed World Cup campaign.

Manchester City will again rely upon the Argentine striker to spearhead his side's quest for as Premier League title.

Tevez performed well for his country in South Africa but has major regrets over how the team was treated by the Football Association of Argentina in the aftermath of their 4-1 quarterfinal defeat at the hands of Germany, News of the World reports.

He has accused them of humiliating world-class players like Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain by dumping them in economy class like "chickens" on their flight home to Buenos Aires after they were knocked out.

Tevez feels that Argentina's failure at the finals has left him feeling deflated ahead of City's new campaign, which kicks off at Spurs on August 14.

"We returned to Argentina the morning after we lost against Germany. But we flew in economy instead of business. The AFA directors put us at the bottom of the plane, as we were chickens, all together," he said.

"The players tried their best and did not deserve such disrespect because we still played some good games and entertained in South Africa. I'm trying to motivate myself, because the World Cup was my goal. For the first time in my life, I'm having problems to find something that motivate me," Tevez added. (ANI)
