Windstorms kill many in India

At least 50 people were feared dead across Uttar Pradesh in India, due to strong winds that have lashed several parts of the state.
Deaths were reported from various districts after strong gusts of wind accompanied by a short spell of rain lashed the capital Lucknow and other parts.
The wind speed recorded at Amausi Airport was approximately 70-75 km an hour.
The stormy conditions are likely to continue with strong winds and rain in the coming few days.

Windstorms kill many in IndiaThe deforestation of the Himalayas and the plains below have caused disappearance of large tracts of forest that acted as windbreakers, and climate moderators.
Human tragedy is compounded with apathetic attitude in the administration.
There is time for petty politics in India, but not real solutions for the people unitedly. |
